Regional Notes

The Carneros appellation, spanning Napa and Sonoma counties, is renowned for producing acclaimed Pinot Noir and well known for its Burgundian-style terroir. Vintage Notes

The 2008 vintage began with budbreak in March. Drought and a hard frost in April gave way to a warm May and mild summer. Harvest began in mid-August, during a drastic heat spike that reduced yields, leading to small berry size and wines that are complex and concentrated, with powerful dark fruit flavors.

Winemaking Notes

The grapes for this Pinot Noir were hand picked in September at ideal Brix. After destemming, the grapes were wholeberry fermented in open-top fermenters, which were punched down manually to provide maximum flavor and minimum harsh tannins. Following fermentation, the wine was transferred to a mix of new and matured small French oak barrels for eight months. Prior to bottling, the wine received minimal filtration and fining to preserve the fresh berry flavors.
